2022 NFL Season
The 2022 season was the inaugural SimFBA season for the pro sim ('SimNFL') and was held concurrently with the second season of the college sim.
Roster Selection
To create the initial rosters, thousands of players were generated and progressed to different experience levels. Each player had an age designation (Young, Prime, Vet) and a skill designation (Pro Bowl, Starter, Below Average). Players were placed into 32 “pools” and each pool randomly assigned to a franchise. From their individual pool, owners selected 3 Pro Bowl caliber players, 6 Starter players (plus an additional Starter for each Pro Bowler of “Veteran” age), and enough Below Average players to fill out a 55 man roster.
Once rosters were chosen, players were assigned a contract based on their age and skill levels (see Dev Diary #49). As part of contract creation, owners were given the option to extend one Young player's contract for 1 year at a 10% pay increase.
2022 Draft
The 2022 SimNFL Draft was held on April 23-24, 2022. With no previous results to go on, the draft order was randomly assigned. To reduce the impact of this random factor, 2022 used a snaking draft format over 8 rounds.
The Cincinnati Bengals made the 1st draft selection in SimNFL history. They selected OT Elijhaa Rader out of Illinois.
